The general who ordered Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl to be tried for desertion and misbehavior before the enemy didn't destroy evidence and wasn't improperly swayed by Sen. John McCain, according to a ruling from the judge overseeing the court-marital.
"Nothing about General (Robert) Abrams' involvement in this matter to date disqualifies him in any way from serving in the capacity of convening authority in this case," according to Col. Jeffery Nance's ruling, which is dated Friday.
