Ten soldiers training on Fort Bragg remain hospitalized after suffering injuries from a lightning strike Wednesday night, according to Fort Bragg.
There were 16 soldiers injured were among 60 from 1st Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, who were conducting a live-fire exercise, said Master Sgt. Patrick Malone, a spokesman for the division.
The soldiers had completed part of their weapons training when the lightning strike occurred about 8:10 p.m., Malone said. They were gathered to listen to an after-action review, while leaders considered whether to pause the training for the night.
