I've been a reporter for eight years ... and for the first time ... my mom asked if she could hang with me to see what I do.
I was thrilled my mom showed more interest than reading the headlines on my story.
Today I went to a 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade hangar to interview a soldier who is set to receive a USO award this year. My mom listened to my interview and got to check out the Black Hawk the soldier works on. She's in town visiting me for only a couple weeks, so I was happy we had the chance to share this moment.
My mom taught me that family is the most important. I still believe that.
